Café Church
This is a new venture for the Corps. It takes place every other Friday, commencing at 6pm and is proving to be a popular activity, as every time the event takes place the numbers attending increase.
Cafe Church has been specifically designed with the unchurched in mind. Many find church irrelevant and boring, with Sundays often being a day for family. Friday evenings therefore seem to be a good evening for a family night out.
Cafe church begins with a light supper, for which thee is a small charge of £1.50 (children under the age of 12years eating free) with as much tea and coffee as you like, and music from our house band. There is then a short multimedia presentation on a theme, such as recently Mothers Day, the World Cup, Is there anybody out there? using music from all genres, whether you are into country, classical or pop, the Beatles or Katherine Jenkins. If you are talented, there is an open mic as well as opportunities for everyone to sing together. There is also, usually, a pub style quiz, contemporary discussion questions about life and a short gospel presentation.
So if you want to try a new style of church, in an informal, relaxed atmosphere, any of our cafe crew would be pleased to welcome you.
